What the calculators collect

Nothing. The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser. The figures you type in are not sent to us, not stored on our servers, and not logged. If you close the tab, they are gone.

Some calculators remember your last-used settings in your own browser’s local storage, so the form is filled in when you come back. That data never leaves your device and you can clear it by clearing your browser data for this site.

What we do collect

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. These are used for security and troubleshooting.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 and a self-hosted installation of Plausible Analytics to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. Plausible is cookieless, runs on our own server, and does not collect or store personal data or track people across sites. Google Analytics 4 does not log full IP addresses.

Advertising

This site is supported by display advertising. Our advertising partners and the ad networks they work with may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure ad performance and, depending on your location and consent, to show ads relevant to your interests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not have access to, and do not receive, the individual profile data that advertising networks may hold about you.

Display advertising is not yet running on this site. When it is, we will name our advertising partner here and link to its privacy policy and its list of vendors, so you can see exactly who is involved.

Cookies

Cookies on this site fall into three groups: strictly necessary cookies that make the site work, analytics cookies that tell us which pages are read, and advertising cookies set by our ad partners.

You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings. Refusing advertising cookies does not stop you seeing ads; it means the ads are less targeted.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell personal information.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Third-party links

We link to external sources, including university publications and research papers. Once you follow a link off this site, this policy no longer applies.
