About Rural Calc

Rural Calc exists because a specific kind of question is badly served online: the practical, numerical questions people ask about animals, land and equipment.

How much hay does a horse eat in the winter. How many acres one horse needs. Whether your truck can tow that trailer, or whether it is actually the payload that fails first. How much syrup a hive needs to reach its winter weight.

What is wrong with the current answers

Calculators for these topics do exist. Most are built by companies that sell feed, batteries or gear, and they exist to collect an email address. They answer the keyword, not the question, and they show a number without showing where it came from.

The articles are worse. Search any of these questions and you will find the same figures repeated from site to site, rounded differently each time, with no source anywhere in the chain. Sometimes the original figure was per degree Celsius and somebody, years ago, wrote it down as Fahrenheit.

What we do differently

Every calculator shows its formula, works through a real example, and lists its sources. Where the research disagrees with itself, we say so and explain which figure we followed and why. Where there is no trustworthy source, we do not invent one.

We also try to answer in the units people actually use. Not just pounds per day, but flakes per feeding and bales per month. Not just gallons, but buckets. Not just cubic yards of sand, but how many truckloads that is and what it will cost delivered.

Who is behind it

Rural Calc is built by Muntaseer Rahman, a web developer in Dhaka who has spent thirteen years building things on the internet, including eight WordPress content sites and a handful of plugins. He has a background in electronics and communication engineering and an MBA from the University of Dhaka.

He is not a veterinarian, an equine nutritionist, a farmer or a boat captain, and this site does not pretend otherwise. What it offers is not domain authority but method: read the primary research, use the original coefficients rather than the rounded ones circulating online, show the arithmetic, and cite every figure so you can check it yourself.

That turns out to matter more than it sounds. Most of the bad numbers on these topics are not wrong because someone lacked expertise. They are wrong because a figure got copied, rounded, and eventually had its units changed by accident, and nobody went back to the source. Going back to the source is the whole job.

Where the research is genuinely contested, the pages say so rather than picking whichever answer sounds most confident.

How it is paid for

Display advertising. There is nothing to subscribe to, no email required to see a result, and no calculator hidden behind a signup. We do not take money to recommend products, and advertisements are served by a third party rather than sold by us.
